Descripción:
Telitromicina es un antibiótico sintético que pertenece a la clase de los cetolidos, utilizado principalmente para tratar infecciones del tracto respiratorio causadas por diversas bacterias. Presenta un amplio espectro de actividad contra organismos Gram-positivos y algunos Gram-negativos, lo que lo hace efectivo contra patógenos como Streptococcus pneumoniae y Haemophilus influenzae. Telitromicina actúa inhibiendo la síntesis de proteínas bacterianas al unirse a la subunidad ribosomal 50S, impidiendo así el crecimiento y la reproducción de las bacterias. Su estructura química presenta un grupo cetona y un esqueleto macrólido, que contribuyen a sus propiedades farmacológicas únicas. Telitromicina se administra por vía oral y es conocido por su vida media relativamente larga, lo que permite una dosificación una vez al día.
