2'-Deoxy-3,5-dimethylcytidine is a nucleoside analog that is an activator of the ribonucleotide reductase enzyme. It has been shown to have anticancer properties in vitro and in vivo. 2'-Deoxy-3,5-dimethylcytidine has also been shown to be effective against HIV and herpes virus infections. 2'-Deoxy-3,5-dimethylcytidine is synthesized from deoxyribonucleosides or nucleosides by phosphitylation with phosphoramidites or diphosphates.
