The compound trans-3-(4-methylbenzoyl)acrylic acid is a potent and selective inhibitor of serine/threonine protein kinase. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of eosinophils in vitro, as well as to suppress the release of leukotrienes from human mast cells.
