5-Aza-2'-desoxicitidina

5-Aza-2'-desoxicitidina, también conocido como decitabina, es un análogo de nucleósido de la citidina que se utiliza principalmente en el tratamiento de ciertos tipos de cáncer, particularmente síndromes mielodisplásicos y leucemia mieloide aguda. Su estructura química presenta una base pirimidínica, específicamente una citosina modificada, donde el átomo de nitrógeno en la posición 5 es reemplazado por un átomo de carbono, lo que resulta en la incorporación de un grupo metilo. Esta modificación inhibe las metiltransferasas de ADN, lo que lleva a la hipometilación del ADN y la reactivación de genes silenciados, lo que puede inducir diferenciación y apoptosis en células cancerosas. 5-Aza-2'-desoxicitidina se administra típicamente por vía intravenosa y tiene una vida media relativamente corta, lo que requiere protocolos de dosificación y administración cuidadosos.
