Descripción:

1,4-Diazabiciclo[2.2.2]octano, comúnmente conocido como DABCO, es un compuesto orgánico bicíclico caracterizado por su estructura única, que consiste en un marco bicíclico que contiene dos átomos de nitrógeno en un sistema de anillo saturado. Es un sólido incoloro a amarillo pálido a temperatura ambiente y es conocido por su fuerte basicidad y nucleofilia, lo que lo convierte en un catalizador útil en varias reacciones químicas, particularmente en la síntesis de polímeros y como catalizador en la producción de espumas de poliuretano. DABCO es soluble en disolventes polares como agua y alcoholes, pero menos soluble en disolventes no polares. Su basicidad se atribuye a la presencia de los átomos de nitrógeno, que pueden donar pares de electrones.
