Descripción:
Carbidopa es un compuesto farmacéutico utilizado principalmente en el tratamiento de la enfermedad de Parkinson y sus síntomas. Funciona como un inhibidor de la dopa descarboxilasa, lo que previene la conversión de levodopa a dopamina en los tejidos periféricos, aumentando así la disponibilidad de levodopa para el cerebro, donde puede convertirse en dopamina. Este mecanismo mejora los efectos terapéuticos de la levodopa mientras minimiza efectos secundarios como náuseas y vómitos. Carbidopa se administra a menudo en combinación con levodopa para mejorar la eficacia del tratamiento.
