N-Octyl-N-decyl-N-dimethylammonium chloride is an antimicrobial agent that has broad spectrum antimicrobial activity. It is used in a number of commercial disinfectants and cleaning products, as well as being an active ingredient in a number of drugs for the treatment of bacterial infections. This drug is soluble in water and can be used to prevent or treat human pathogens. N-Octyl-N-decyl-N-dimethylammonium chloride works by disrupting the cell membranes of bacteria, which leads to death. This product also has antifungal properties and can be used to inhibit the growth of yeasts such as Candida albicans. NODDAC can also be combined with other antimicrobials like benzalkonium chloride, glycol ethers, cationic surfactants, or polymers for enhanced efficacy.
