Descripción:
Ácido perfluorooctanoico (PFOA), con el número CAS 335-67-1, es una sustancia perfluoroalquílica sintética (PFAS) caracterizada por una larga cadena de carbono completamente saturada con átomos de flúor, lo que la hace altamente estable y resistente a la degradación. Es un líquido incoloro e inodoro a temperatura ambiente y es soluble en disolventes orgánicos pero insoluble en agua. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) is one of the most commonly used perfluorinated compounds and is known to cause hepatic peroxisome proliferation in rodents (1). Being a persistent environmental pollutant, it can accumulate in human tissues via various exposure routes. PFOA may interfere in a toxic fashion on the immune system, liver, development, and endocrine systems through alteration of DNA methylation enzymes (2,3,4).
