Cytidine-5'-carboxylic acid is a member of the family of phenylephrine, which is a solid-phase peptide synthesized by reacting amino acids with N,O-bis(trimethylsilyl)acetamide and trimethylchlorosilane. Cytidine-5'-carboxylic acid is known to modulate substances that affect cell membrane properties and cause contraction in isolated rat stomachs. It has been shown to bind to the receptor agonist in laboratory animals. The concentration-response curve for cytidine-5'-carboxylic acid was determined in isolated rat stomach preparations.
