1-Palmitoylglycol-2-phosphocholine (PPC) is a lipase inhibitor that is used as a research tool. It inhibits the activity of pancreatic and hepatic lipases by binding to the active site of these enzymes. PPC has been shown to inhibit the digestion of fatty acids in vitro, due to its specific inhibition of pancreatic lipase and diacylglycerol acyltransferase. This compound also has acid properties and can be titrimetrically analyzed for concentrations over 0.5 mg/mL in an assay mixture containing 1% phosphoric acid, sodium acetate buffer, potassium chloride, and water.
