The fluorescence micrographs reveal the orientation of the molecules in the monolayer at different temperatures. The spacing between phosphatidylethanolamine molecules can be observed through epifluorescence microscopy and fluorescence microscopy. The orientation of 16:0 Monomethyl PE molecules was found to be dependent on temperature, with a greater degree of ordering at lower temperatures. Diffraction patterns obtained from 16:0 Monomethyl PE revealed that it had a molecular shape similar to that of phosphatidylethanolamine, with a radius of curvature of 13 Å.
