CAS:Bis(4-fluorophenyl) disulfide is a low molecular weight compound that is soluble in organic solvents. It has the formula CF2=C(S)SF, and its molecular weight is 134.3 g/mol. Bis(4-fluorophenyl) disulfide can be obtained by thermolysis of potassium 4-fluoroaniline sulfoxide in the presence of diphenylsulfide. It can also be prepared by reacting diphenylsulfide with sodium 4-fluoroaniline sulfoxide, or by reacting diphenylsulfide with potassium 4-chloroaniline sulfoxide in the presence of an acid catalyst such as hydrochloric acid. Bis(4-fluorophenyl) disulfide has high thermal stability and is relatively inert against water and oxygen.
