1-Chloro-4-(2,2-diethoxyethoxy)benzene (1C4DEB) is a human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) functional theory and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) organocatalytic inhibitor. 1C4DEB binds to the active site of hCG and prevents the binding of follitropin, an allosteric modulator, to this site. This results in a decrease in the maximal response of hCG to follitropin. 1C4DEB has been shown to be an experimental model for pesticides that are known as dihedral bond cleavage agents.
