Diphenyleneiodonium sulfate

The activated EGF stimulates the synthesis of lipids and proteins, which are needed for cell division. Diphenyleneiodonium sulfate also has an effect on cellular metabolism by inhibiting oxidative phosphorylation and increasing the production of reactive oxygen species. The drug binds to DNA and alters its structure, leading to cell death. Diphenyleneiodonium sulfate has been shown to bind to DNA with high affinity, but does not inhibit protein synthesis or change the expression of genes.
