CAS 50-36-2

CAS:Producto controladoCocaine is a small-molecule drug that acts as an indirect agonist to the neurotransmitter dopamine, which is involved in reward and motivation. Cocaine binds to the response element in the promoter region of the gene for the enzyme human erythrocyte membrane protein band 3 (hEPB3). This binding inhibits transcription of hEPB3 mRNA by preventing RNA polymerase from reading through to the start codon. Cocaine also prevents reuptake of catecholamines, which prolongs their effects on postsynaptic cells. Cocaine has been used as a pharmacological treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, although it is not currently approved by the FDA for this use. The physiological effects of cocaine are similar to those seen with other stimulants such as amphetamine and methyl ethylamphetamine. These include increased heart rate and blood pressure, anxiety, insomnia, paranoia, anorexia, and reduced pain sensitivity.Fórmula:C17H21NO4Pureza:Min. 95%Peso molecular:303.35 g/mol
