5-Fluorouracilo (5-FU) es un análogo de pirimidina sintético que actúa como un antimetabolito en el tratamiento del cáncer, dirigido principalmente a células que se dividen rápidamente. Su fórmula química es C4H3FN2O2, y se caracteriza por la presencia de un átomo de flúor en la posición 5 del anillo de uracilo, lo que altera sus vías metabólicas. El 5-FU se administra típicamente por vía intravenosa o tópica, dependiendo del tipo de cáncer que se esté tratando, como el cáncer colorrectal, de mama y de piel.
