Yoduro de ecotiofato es un compuesto organofosforado utilizado principalmente como medicamento en el tratamiento del glaucoma y como agente miótico para constriñir la pupila del ojo. Funciona como un inhibidor irreversible de la enzima acetilcolinesterasa, lo que lleva a un aumento de los niveles de acetilcolina en las sinapsis, lo que mejora la actividad colinérgica. Este compuesto se caracteriza por su capacidad para penetrar en las membranas biológicas, lo que le permite ejercer sus efectos en el sistema nervioso.
