Teriparatida es una forma sintética de la hormona paratiroidea (PTH) utilizada principalmente en el tratamiento de la osteoporosis. Se caracteriza por su capacidad para estimular la formación ósea, lo que la distingue de otros tratamientos para la osteoporosis que se centran principalmente en inhibir la resorción ósea. Teriparatida se administra mediante inyección subcutánea y generalmente se prescribe para pacientes con alto riesgo de fracturas. La sustancia está compuesta por los primeros 34 aminoácidos de la PTH humana, que son cruciales para su actividad biológica.
