CAS:APR 246 is a methyltransferase inhibitor that has been shown to be effective against tumor cells. It acts by inhibiting the activity of DNA methyltransferases, which are enzymes that catalyze the transfer of methyl groups to DNA. This inhibition inhibits the process of epigenetic regulation and leads to apoptosis. APR 246 has also been shown to inhibit receptor activity, cell adhesion, and cell proliferation in synergistic cells. The compound is an antagonist for mutant p53 and has been found to induce caspase-independent cell death in cancer cells.
