Pregna-1,4-dieno-3,20-diona, 6-fluoro-11,17,21-trihidroxi-16-metilo-, comúnmente conocido como Fluocinolona acetonida, es un corticosteroide sintético con propiedades antiinflamatorias e inmunosupresoras. Se caracteriza por su estructura esteroidal, que incluye un átomo de flúor en la posición 6 y múltiples grupos hidroxilo que mejoran su actividad biológica. Paramethasone has been shown to be effective against cervical cancer cells and alopecia areata. This drug also has toxic effects on liver cells at high doses. The toxicity of paramethasone has been studied in experimental models and humans; it appears to be less toxic than other steroids when given orally or systemically.
