7-Chloroindole is a potent compound that inhibits bacterial growth. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumour cell lines at submicromolar concentrations, with an IC50 of 0.5 µM. 7-Chloroindole also strongly inhibits the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, with an IC50 of 0.1 µM.
