Ácido salicilsalicílico, también conocido como ácido 2-hidroxibenzoico o dimer de ácido salicílico, es un compuesto orgánico caracterizado por su estructura, que consiste en dos unidades de ácido salicílico unidas por un enlace éster. Aparece como un polvo cristalino blanco a blanco amarillento y es poco soluble en agua, pero más soluble en disolventes orgánicos como el etanol y la acetona. CAS:<p>Salsalate is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that belongs to the class of drugs known as salicylates. It is used to treat chronic arthritis and osteoarthritis. Salsalate inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and cytokines, thereby reducing inflammation and pain. The mechanism of action has been shown in experimental models, which indicates that salsalate may inhibit transcriptional regulation, protein synthesis, or DNA replication. Salsalate also inhibits the production of cholesterol by binding to fatty acids in adipose tissue. This drug has been shown to reduce hepatic steatosis and prevent liver damage caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
