The ring opening polymerization of 4,4-dimethyl-1,2-thiazetidine 1,1,3-trione produces polymers with quaternary ammonium groups. These polymers are soluble in water and are stable to heat and light. 4,4 -dimethyl - 1,2 - thiazetidine 1 , 1 , 3 - trione has a molecular weight of 216.
