Cafeína

Descripción:
Cafeína, con el número CAS 58-08-2, es un estimulante de origen natural que pertenece a la clase de compuestos xantina. Se encuentra principalmente en granos de café, hojas de té y vainas de cacao. Cafeína es un polvo cristalino blanco e inodoro que es soluble en agua y tiene un sabor ligeramente amargo. Su fórmula molecular es C8H10N4O2, y tiene un peso molecular de aproximadamente 194.19 g/mol. Cafeína actúa como un estimulante del sistema nervioso central, alejando temporalmente la somnolencia y restaurando la alerta. Funciona bloqueando la acción de la adenosina, un neurotransmisor que promueve el sueño, aumentando así la liberación de otros neurotransmisores como la dopamina y la norepinefrina. Cafeína se consume comúnmente en bebidas como café, té y bebidas energéticas, y también está disponible en varias formulaciones farmacéuticas. Si bien el consumo moderado se considera generalmente seguro para la mayoría de las personas, la ingesta excesiva puede provocar efectos secundarios como insomnio, nerviosismo y aumento de la frecuencia cardíaca.
