Descripción:
Clorhidrato de puromicina es un compuesto antibiótico que se deriva de la bacteria *Streptomyces alboniger*. Se conoce principalmente por su papel como inhibidor de la síntesis de proteínas, dirigiéndose específicamente a la maquinaria ribosomal de células procariontes y eucariontes. El compuesto funciona imitando la estructura del aminoacil-tRNA, lo que lleva a la terminación prematura de las cadenas polipeptídicas durante la traducción. Clorhidrato de puromicina se presenta típicamente como un polvo cristalino blanco a blanco sucio, soluble en agua y en varios disolventes orgánicos. Su fórmula molecular incluye elementos como carbono, hidrógeno, nitrógeno y oxígeno, que contribuyen a su actividad biológica. En entornos de laboratorio, la puromicina se utiliza ampliamente en biología molecular para seleccionar células genéticamente modificadas, ya que puede eliminar eficazmente las células no resistentes.
