El monofosfato de adenosina cíclico (AMPc) es un segundo mensajero crucial en varios procesos biológicos, desempeñando un papel significativo en las vías de señalización celular. Se deriva del trifosfato de adenosina (ATP) y se caracteriza por su estructura cíclica, que consiste en un azúcar ribosa, un grupo fosfato y una base de adenina. Se conoce que AMPc tiene la capacidad de activar la proteína quinasa A (PKA), lo que lleva a la fosforilación de varias proteínas objetivo, influyendo así en las vías metabólicas, la expresión génica y la proliferación celular.
