CAS:2-Chlorobenzyl Chloride is an industrial chemical that is used in the production of prothioconazole, a fungicide. It is converted to the active compound during the reaction with sodium carbonate and hydrochloric acid. The chloride ion in 2-chlorobenzyl chloride reacts with sodium carbonate to produce hydrogen chloride and an alkanoic acid. The hydrogen chloride then reacts with the alkanoic acid to form prothioconazole. 2-Chlorobenzyl Chloride can also be used as an absorber in analytical chemistry or as a process optimization agent in industrial chemicals.
