Di-tert-butylether (DTBE) is a solvent that is used in analytical methods to extract organic compounds. DTBE has been shown to inhibit the activities of various enzymes, such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which are important for DNA replication, and other enzymes involved in protein synthesis. DTBE also inhibits the activity of human serum albumin by binding with the hydroxyl groups on the protein.
