CAS:Hydroxy Melphalan is a bifunctional alkylating agent that binds to DNA and inhibits the synthesis of RNA. It has been shown to be cytostatic in many tumor cell lines, including leukemia and lymphoma. Hydroxy Melphalan is highly stable in plasma, with plasma concentrations of hydroxy melphalan being higher than those found in the liver. The drug substance (hydroxy melphalan) can be chromatographically separated from polyvinyl pyrrolidone by phase chromatography.
