CAS:Cinnamic acid is a phenolic compound that is found in plants, such as cinnamon and cumin. It has been shown to have genotoxic effects on the human lymphocyte and to be a potential anticancer agent. Cinnamic acid has also been shown to inhibit the production of PGE2 in vitro, which may be due to its ability to inhibit 4-hydroxycinnamic acid hydroxylase activity. Cinnamic acid is also able to bind with DNA and form hydrogen bonds with other molecules, which may account for its biological properties.
