The synthesis of this product starts with the fluorination of D glucose to give 1,2,3,4,6 tetrafluorohexane. This product can then be methylated to form 4,6 methylene dioxolanone or it can be benzylated to form 4,6 O benzylidene dioxolanone. Click chemistry can then be used to modify this product by adding an aminopropyl group at the C4 position
