CAS:Arachidyl alcohol is a natural compound that has been isolated from the leaves of the plant Aralia mandshurica. The compound is a colorless liquid with a melting point of 17°C and an odor that resembles that of citronella oil. It can be obtained by hydrolysis of arachidonic acid and ethanol in the presence of sodium citrate. The compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. Arachidyl alcohol also has topical cosmetic properties, such as skin cell renewal, and can be found in skin care products.
