It binds to the catalytic domain of the flt3 tyrosine kinase and blocks the activation of this enzyme. The structural analysis revealed that AST-487 binds to a region on Kinesin that is close to its ATP binding site. This binding prevents ATP from interacting with Kinesin, thereby inhibiting its function.
