Descripción:
(-)-Clorhidrato de tetraciclina es un antibiótico de amplio espectro que pertenece a la clase de las tetraciclinas, utilizado principalmente para tratar diversas infecciones bacterianas. Se caracteriza por su compleja estructura policíclica, que incluye cuatro anillos fusionados, lo que contribuye a su capacidad para inhibir la síntesis de proteínas en las bacterias al unirse a la subunidad ribosomal 30S. Este compuesto se presenta típicamente como una sal de clorhidrato, lo que mejora su solubilidad en agua. (-)-Clorhidrato de tetraciclina exhibe un color amarillo a naranja y es sensible a la luz, lo que puede llevar a su degradación. Es efectivo contra una amplia gama de bacterias grampositivas y gramnegativas, así como algunos protozoos. La sustancia también es conocida por sus propiedades antiinflamatorias y a veces se utiliza en el tratamiento del acné y otras afecciones cutáneas. Sin embargo, su uso puede provocar efectos secundarios, incluidos trastornos gastrointestinales y fotosensibilidad.
