Bis-tris propano, también conocido como Bis(2-hidroxipropilo)amino-2-propanol, es un buffer zwitteriónico comúnmente utilizado en aplicaciones bioquímicas y de biología molecular. Se caracteriza por su capacidad para mantener un pH estable en sistemas biológicos, lo que lo hace particularmente útil en experimentos que involucran enzimas y proteínas. El compuesto presenta tres grupos hidroxilo, que contribuyen a su capacidad de amortiguación, y una amina terciaria, que puede aceptar protones, mejorando su estabilidad de pH.
