Furantoína

Descripción:
Furantoína, también conocido como nitroFurantoína, es un antibiótico que se utiliza principalmente para tratar infecciones del tracto urinario. Pertenece a la clase de compuestos nitrofuranos y exhibe una actividad antibacteriana de amplio espectro contra varias bacterias Gram-positivas y Gram-negativas. La estructura química de Furantoína presenta un anillo nitrofuranos, que es esencial para sus propiedades antimicrobianas. Actúa inhibiendo la síntesis de proteínas bacterianas, ADN, ARN y la síntesis de la pared celular, lo que lleva a la muerte celular bacteriana. Furantoína se administra típicamente por vía oral y se absorbe bien en el tracto gastrointestinal, siendo su efectividad mejorada cuando se toma con alimentos. Los efectos secundarios comunes pueden incluir trastornos gastrointestinales, reacciones alérgicas y, en casos raros, toxicidad pulmonar.
