2-Iodo-6-isopropyl-3-methyl-2',4,4'-trinitrodiphenyl ether is a reconstituted compound that belongs to the group of reactive substances. It has been shown to bind to cell nuclei and mitochondria. 2-Iodo-6-isopropyl-3-methyl-2',4,4'-trinitrodiphenyl ether may be toxic under certain circumstances because it is able to react with redox systems and cause oxidative damage. This substance also has an antioxidant system that can reduce the amount of reactive oxygen species. The uptake of 2-iodo 6 isopropyl 3 methyl 2', 4, 4'-trinitrodiphenyl ether by plants was demonstrated using low light conditions. This substance has also been shown to inhibit serine protease activity in mutant strains of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics such as penicillin and clindamycin.
