Litio de mupirocina, con el número CAS 73346-79-9, es un agente antibiótico utilizado principalmente para aplicaciones tópicas para tratar infecciones bacterianas, particularmente aquellas causadas por Staphylococcus aureus, incluyendo cepas resistentes a meticilina (MRSA). Se deriva de la fermentación de la bacteria Pseudomonas fluorescens. La mupirocina actúa inhibiendo la síntesis de proteínas bacterianas al unirse a la isoleucil-tRNA sintetasa, lo que interrumpe la incorporación de isoleucina en las proteínas, llevando finalmente a la muerte celular bacteriana.
