Descripción:
Paladio es un metal raro de color blanco plateado que pertenece al grupo del platino, caracterizado por su alto punto de fusión, excelente resistencia a la corrosión y propiedades catalíticas. Tiene el número atómico 46 y se denota con el símbolo "Pd". Paladio es conocido por su capacidad para absorber hidrógeno, lo que lo hace valioso en diversas aplicaciones, incluyendo almacenamiento y purificación de hidrógeno. Se utiliza ampliamente como catalizador en reacciones químicas, particularmente en convertidores catalíticos automotrices para reducir emisiones nocivas. Además, Paladio se utiliza en electrónica, odontología y joyería debido a su atractivo estético y propiedades hipoalergénicas. El metal es relativamente inerte, exhibiendo estabilidad en aire y agua, pero puede reaccionar con halógenos y ciertos ácidos. Los isótopos de Paladio son principalmente estables, siendo el más común el Pd-102. Sus propiedades únicas lo convierten en un material esencial en la tecnología moderna y los procesos industriales.
