Descripción:
Renio es un metal de transición con el símbolo Re y el número atómico 75. Se caracteriza por su alto punto de fusión, que es uno de los más altos entre todos los elementos, y su apariencia densa y blanco plateado. Renio es notable por su excelente resistencia a la corrosión y oxidación, lo que lo hace adecuado para aplicaciones a altas temperaturas. Presenta una variedad de estados de oxidación, siendo +7 el más alto, y puede formar una gama de compuestos, incluidos los óxidos de Renio y los sulfuros de Renio. Renio se utiliza principalmente en superaleaciones para motores a reacción y en catalizadores para procesos de refinación de petróleo. Sus isótopos, particularmente Renio-186 y Renio-188, tienen aplicaciones en medicina nuclear. Además, Renio es relativamente raro en la corteza terrestre, a menudo se encuentra en minerales de molibdenita, y se extrae típicamente a través de procesos metalúrgicos complejos.
