Descripción:
Cloruro de mercurio, también conocido como dicloruro de mercurio o calomel, es un compuesto inorgánico con la fórmula química HgCl₂. Es un sólido cristalino blanco que es altamente soluble en agua y tiene un sabor amargo. Cloruro de mercurio es conocido por sus propiedades tóxicas, ya que es un veneno potente y puede causar efectos graves en la salud al exponerse, incluyendo daño a los riñones y al sistema nervioso. El compuesto se utiliza a menudo en diversas aplicaciones, incluyendo como desinfectante, antiséptico y en la preparación de otros compuestos de mercurio.
