Descripción:

Tetrametilsilano (TMS) es un compuesto organosilícico incoloro, inodoro y altamente volátil con la fórmula química Si(CH₃)₄. Se caracteriza por su estructura molecular tetraédrica, donde un átomo de silicio está unido a cuatro grupos metilo. TMS se utiliza ampliamente como estándar de referencia en espectroscopia de resonancia magnética nuclear (RMN) debido a su capacidad para proporcionar un desplazamiento químico consistente para protones y carbonos, lo que lo hace invaluable en química orgánica para determinar la estructura de compuestos.
