CAS:Dimethyl acetylene dicarboxylate (DMAD) is an anti-infective agent that targets the pyrrole system in enzymes. It inhibits the synthesis of bacterial proteins and has been shown to have antiviral activity against HIV. DMAD binds to a specific site on the enzyme and prevents it from functioning normally. This causes a decrease in the production of proteins needed for cell division and can lead to cell death. DMAD also has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to receptor sites, preventing protein synthesis, and altering enzyme activity. X-ray diffraction data and x-ray crystal structures reveal that DMAD is a stable compound which forms stable complexes with metal ions. These complexes are formed through hydrogen bonding interactions with amino acid residues in the active site of enzymes.

It can rapidly penetrate the skin and cause aberrations in the activities of the glycogenic, lipogenic, and tricarboxylic acid metabollic pathways. It also causes delayed and pain-free dermal burns.
Not a dangerous good if item is equal to or less than 1g/ml and there is less than 100g/ml in the package
