4-Ethyl-3-methyl-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-2-one
CAS:4-Ethyl-3-methyl-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-2-one is an isomer of pyrrolidinone that is a precursor to the antibiotic cephalosporin C. It has been shown to undergo intramolecular cyclization in addition to regioselective cyclization. 4-Ethyl-3-methyl-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-2-one can be synthesized from 3-(4'-methoxybenzoyl)oxymethylene malonitrile and acetaldehyde via a sequence of reactions involving hydrolysis, hydrogenation, and reductive amination. The yield for this synthetic pathway is about 55%. The compound fluoresces at a wavelength of 535 nm when treated with UV light. 4EtMDP has been used as a model substrate for studying intramolecular cyclizationFórmula:C7H11NOPureza:Min. 95%Peso molecular:125.17 g/mol
