CAS:Sodium (meta)arsenite is a chemical compound that is used as an analytical reagent for DNA detection. It has been shown to be a response element for the sorbitol dehydrogenase gene in the chemiluminescence method. Sodium arsenite has minimal toxicity in humans and can be used as a biological sample. The rate constant of arsenite oxidation has been measured using the water vapor technique, which is based on the reaction between arsenite and hydrogen peroxide. This oxidation-reduction reaction produces light waves with a wavelength of 585 nm, which are detected by photomultiplier tubes. Sodium arsenite also oxidizes guanine nucleotides, thereby altering energy metabolism in cells.
