Descripción:
Loratadina es un antihistamínico de segunda generación comúnmente utilizado para aliviar los síntomas de alergia como la nariz moquienta, los estornudos y los ojos irritados. Se caracteriza por su antagonismo selectivo de los receptores H1 periféricos, lo que ayuda a minimizar los efectos secundarios comunes asociados con los antihistamínicos de primera generación, como la sedación. Loratadina es un polvo cristalino blanco a casi blanco que es prácticamente insoluble en agua pero soluble en disolventes orgánicos como el etanol y el metanol. Su fórmula química es C22H23ClN2O2, y tiene un peso molecular de aproximadamente 382.88 g/mol. Loratadina se administra a menudo por vía oral y tiene una larga duración de acción, lo que permite una dosificación una vez al día. Loratadine binds to histamine H1 receptors, preventing histamine from binding and causing an allergic reaction.It has been found to inhibit the release of eosinophil cationic protein by acting on different components of allergic inflammation, in particular in the modulation of ICAM-1 expression on nasal epithelial cells as a mechanism of protective for the epithelium, and therefore, the damage of mucosa is reduced.
