Tangerine oil
CAS:Tangerine oil is an extract of the tangerine peel that contains fatty acids, terpenes and antimicrobial agents. It has been shown to have a broad spectrum of activity against bacteria and fungi. Tangerine oil has been found to be active against Gram-positive bacteria such as Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans. In addition, it shows activity against Gram-negative bacteria such as Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The antimicrobial activity of tangerine oil is due to its ability to kill microbes by damaging their cell membranes or by inhibiting their growth. Tangerine oil has also been shown to inhibit the growth of yeast cells in the presence of glucose.
