Copolímero de ácido 3-hidroxibutírico-ácido 3-hidroxivalérico, comúnmente conocido como PHBV, es un polímero biodegradable derivado de la fermentación de recursos renovables. Este copolímero está compuesto por dos unidades monoméricas: ácido 3-hidroxibutírico (3HB) y ácido 3-hidroxivalérico (3HV). PHBV exhibe una variedad de características que lo hacen adecuado para diversas aplicaciones, particularmente en los campos de envases, dispositivos biomédicos y películas agrícolas. Es conocido por sus buenas propiedades mecánicas, flexibilidad y estabilidad térmica, que se pueden ajustar modificando la relación de los dos monómeros.
