    <p>Padmatin is a flavonoid that has been reported to have radical scavenging activity. It is found in the leaves of the plant, and has been shown to have antioxidant effects in assays. Padmatin also exhibits a sweet taste and may be used as a natural sweetener. The chemical structure of padmatin includes two phenylpropanoid units, eriodictyol and putatively taxifolin, which are both responsible for its antioxidant properties. Padmatin has been shown to have hydroxyl radical scavenging activity in the presence of p-coumaric acid, hexane and an electrospray ionization mass spectrometer (ESI-MS).</p>
