CAS:Phthalimide is an organic compound that is used as a chemical intermediate. It has been shown to inhibit the binding of serotonin to 5-HT2 receptors and the activity of the enzyme carbonic anhydrase. Phthalimide has also been found to be toxic to cells in culture, but it does not appear to be toxic when applied topically. Phthalimide may also have anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
